SLR Honda | Taft, CA | Round 2

The SLR Honda team competed in the second round of the 2020 NGPC Big6 series on February 9th, 2020 at the Honolulu Hills raceway. With a strong charge throughout the day, Cole Martinez placed in 3rd and Trevor Stewart followed closely behind finishing 4th in the Pro Class. Consistent and podium driven, Tallon Lafountaine wrapped up another 1st place Pro 2 win and is excited to keep his momentum going for the entirety of the season.

With a steady flow and solid race, Lafountaine brings home another big win and says, “I started in second place and made the move into the lead about halfway through the first lap. I pulled ahead with a 30 second lead by the halfway point and pretty much kept it there the rest of the race.”

Martinez found himself in a battle for 2nd place throughout the race but ultimately finished in 3rd after a great ride. Clear potential for the road ahead, he is constantly battling with the to pro class riders and has established his place on the podium.

Against all odds, Stewart finished closely behind fellow SLR Honda teammate, Martinez, in 4th place. “I felt great coming into the day and got off to a good start,” he says, “but I had a pretty big crash on the 2nd lap which settled me into 4th, but I have more in the tank and I’m excited for the rest of the season.”

With another race in Taft, CA on Feb. 23, 2020 for the WORCS Round 2 MC race, the SLR Honda team continues to drive for great results

SLR Honda NGPC Race Results

The SLR Honda team competed in the first round of the 2020 NGPC series, Adelanto Grand Prix, on January 9, 2020. With a hole shot and strong lead throughout the race, Tallon Lafountaine crossed the finish line in 1st place in the Pro 2 class. Cole Martinez dominated the Pro class by taking home a 2nd place finish alongside his teammate, Trevor Stewart, who finished in 16th place.

Lafountaine increased his lead time from 6 seconds to 20 seconds half-way through the race and says, “I was able to break away and pretty much control the rest of the race.” Now entering the season on a high note, Lafountaine is excited to keep those results coming and dominate the rest of the season.

In the Pro class, Martinez road strong throughout the race and finished with a 2nd place. He has a lot more to show this season and his comfortability on the bike will set him apart from his competitors.

Stewart entered the weekend motivated to quickly gain a points lead while running the No. 1 plate but due to some errors, he dropped from 3rd place to 16th by the last lap.

With some minor changes that will be made on each bike, the SLR Honda team will be prepared for our next race in Primm, NV, Round 1 of WORCS.
