2021 NGPC, Big 6 Series

Returning riders Cole Martinez and Tallon Lafountaine had a successful first round back to the NGPC series over the weekend, with two podium finishes to kick off the season. In the amateur class, Even Stice brought home his first win of the season in the Open A class while teammate Allen Mendelssohn suffered a crash in 250A, which ultimately took him out of the Open A class.

Race Action

In the Pro class, team rider Cole Martinez #34 started the race in a strong position and quickly made his way to 2nd place to battle with the lead rider. With only a 15-second gap, Martinez consistently pushed the opportunity to pass 1st place but finished his race in 2nd on the all-new 2021 CRF450RX. Tallon Lafountaine #1, defending Pro II champion, came back strong this season. Starting in 5th place, Lafountaine was able to push himself into a top three leader position within the first few laps of the race. All three riders kept a fast pace and a competitive battle for a podium position. Lafountaine crossed the finish line in 2nd place for his first race of the season.
In the amateur class, Allen Mendelssohn suffered a crash in 250A that took him out of the Open A race with teammate Even Stice. Stice got off to a 2nd place start, battling with the lead bike and staying closely behind until the pit, where he made a strategic pass for the lead position. Stice brought home a win in the Open A class and significant momentum for the next round in Taft, Ca.

2020 NGPC Series Lake Havasu City, AZ | Round 10

The SLR Honda team took on the final round of this year’s NGPC series that took place in Lake Havasu City, AZ this past weekend. All three team riders finished in podium positions and one celebrated with a series championship. Cole Martinez finished 2nd and Trevor Stewart 3rd in the Pro class while Pro II rider Tallon Lafountiane took home a 2nd place finish which put him in the overall series points lead, making him your 2020 Pro II NGPC champion.

Race Action

In the Pro class, team riders Cole Martinez and Trevor Stewart came prepared to battle for the final race of the series. Martinez had a rough start to Sunday’s race that put him towards the back of the pack while team rider Trevor Stewart jumped into 2nd place. With a competitive advantage from the start, Stewart maintained a top 3 position while teammate Cole Martinez had a lot of ground to make up. Martinez made strategic passes during each lap that eventually put him in 2nd to finish and Trevor in 3rd. Martinez ended his season in 3rd overall and Trevor Stewart in 2nd place in the series points lead.

Tallon Lafountaine headed into the final round of this series just 7 points shy of the overall Pro II championship. Lafountaine started the race far behind where he wanted to be but with a strong determination to take home the championship, he quickly made up ground to the lead pack. At the halfway mark, Lafountaine was in 4th place and getting closer to a podium position. After battling for the lead, Lafountaine made a pass into 2nd place for the finish and was crowned the overall series points champion in Pro II. Tallon Lafountaine will be entering 2021 with the No. 1 plate and determination to continue his winning streak.
