About SLR Honda

SLR Honda is a professional off-road team setup to dominate the west coast off-road race series. As of June 2018, SLR Honda riders are currently in contention for the SCORE and Big 6 championships.

SLR Honda was started in 2018 by former Ox Motorsports owner and rider Mark Samuels. During the 5 year span with Ox Motorsports, the team won four championships in the Big 6 and SCORE series. Mark brings that experience with him to his new venture, SLR Honda.

For 2019, we are proud to announce the team will continue to pursue championships in the Big 6, WORCS, and SCORE International race series.

SLR Honda announces rider line-up and race schedule for 2022

January 12, 2022 – Yucca Valley, CA

After yet another successful off-road season, SLR Honda eyes up another great year. Led by team owner Mark Samuels, the plan is to focus on our West coast racing efforts with full season participation in WORCS (World Off-Road Championship Series) and the NGPC (National Grand-Prix Championship). Along with tackling the challenge of battling for titles in both the aforementioned series, SLR will also compete in select rounds of the AMA Western Hare-Scramble Championship, the Mammoth and Loretta-Lynn Amateur National Championship to support American Honda with rider support, and some soon to be announced long-distance endurance races that the team initially became known for.

After a successful 2022 season, including premier class wins in both major series and a trip to the ISDE to represent the USA, Cole Martinez is back under the SLR Honda tent. With a few seasons of off-road experience now under his belt and the speed to win, Martines is ready to keep the momentum going and chase after both the WORCS and NGPC series Pro class championships aboard his 2022 Honda CRF450RX.

Joining Martinez in the 450/Open Pro class in both series will be SLR’s prior 250 Pro racer, Tallon Lafountaine, who moves up to the big leagues after wrapping up three titles over the past two seasons. The multi-time 250 Champion made his premier class debut on the CRF450RX at the end of 2021 but with a full off-season of testing and preparation heading into the new season, it won’t be long until Lafountaine is battling for podiums and looking for his first win aboard the bigger bike.

As Lafountaine departs the 250, SLR won’t be overlooking the class as new arrival Jack Simpson (from Melbourne, Australia) has made the long trip from down-under to join the team and compete in the 250 Pro class aboard the all new Honda CRF250RX. Simpson has a lot of off-road racing experience back in his home country and we look forward to having him here to chase his US racing aspirations. At the same time, show what Honda’s newest machine can do in some of the toughest racing conditions found in the country.

Continuing SLR’s trend of assisting and guiding youth talent, we have added a new amateur class racer to compete in the 250A and OpenA classes with a name that’s familiar to the team, Collier Martinez. Collier Martinez had some very impressive rides in the 2021 season and shows some of the same qualities that has made his older brother such a success in off-road racing. We’re excited for the opportunity to work with him and help guide him successfully towards the Pro ranks.

The National Grand-Prix Championship kicks off on January 15-16th, 2022 in Delano, Ca. The four man team’s first chance to race together for top results in the ten round series.

The following week January 22-23th, 2022 in Primm, Nevada will be the start of the World Off-Road Championship Series nine round series. Two hours straight of grit, showing the team’s determination and proper preparation.

With the continued support from American Honda, we’re excited for the opportunities 2022 brings and would like to thank the rest of partners and supporters: Monster Energy, Skechers, Fly Racing, Wester Powersports, Pro Circuit, Showa, Lava Propane, ODI, Dunlop, Dirt Tricks, Maxima, Pro Filter, Split Designs, VP Racing Fuels, FirePower, Twisted Development, Hinson, IMS, BRP, Acerbis, Wiseco, ProX, DID, MotoSeat, Alpinestars, Coast Powder Coating, and Baja Bound.
